BSL Corpus 10 year celebration event

3 November 2018

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the BSL Corpus Project we are holding a celebration event on Saturday 3 November 2018.

Are you a member of the British Deaf community? Are you a Deaf or hearing BSL signer? Do you teach BSL? Are you a BSL interpreter or otherwise interested in BSL? Please join us to celebrate! And, learn more about the BSL Corpus and BSL SignBank.

Half of the day will be about research findings – i.e. what we’ve learned over the years so far from doing research using the BSL Corpus and also the related dictionary we created based on signs from the corpus – i.e. BSL SignBank. The other half of the day will showcase people who have been using the BSL Corpus and/or BSL SignBank for reasons other than research, especially for BSL teaching and/or interpreter training.

Learning outcomes (for those wishing to use attendance at this event for CPD purposes):

  • Learn about the BSL Corpus and BSL Signbank
  • Learn about research findings from studying these resources
  • Learn about how these resources can be used for teaching and learning BSL and for teaching and learning interpreting

Please note: The event will be delivered primarily in British Sign Language (BSL). BSL/English interpretation will be provided, as well as live captions.

When: 3 November 2018, 9:30am-5:30pm

Where: University College London, WC1E, London (see Eventbrite for specific building and room)
